The leaves are turning from green to bright fall colors, and school is back in session. Wondering how to enjoy the fall season? Head out to an apple orchard where you can pick apples, drink cider, and eat donuts. Check out the list below to find an apple orchard, and a list of facts you may want to know before you go. Erwin’s Orchard in South Lyon, MI

Erwin’s hours are from July to November and are open daily, from 9 am- 6 pm. Erwin’s carries the following apples: Paula Red, Jonamac, McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Red Delicious, Ida Red, Mutsu, Northern Spy, Jonagold, Gala, Honey Crisp, Ginger Gold, and Golden Delicious. If you go, check out the cool activities like U-pick red and yellow raspberries, U-pick apples, U-pick pumpkins, festivals, wagon rides, kids’ barn yard with Tike trials, Balloon Typhoon, and a hay maze. Don’t forget the apple and pumpkin flavored donuts, apple cider, cider slush, and caramel apples. This year’s fun event will be the Halloween costume contest on October 25, 2009 at 4:00 pm. All ages are welcome. Plus, there will be a cash prize!
Long Family Orchard and Cider Mill in Commerce, MI

Long's hours are Monday to Friday from 12-6 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9 am-9 pm. They sell the following apples: McIntosh, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Cortland, Jonathon, Empire, Northern Spy. ½ bushels are $15.00. The other items available are fresh asparagus in May, U-pick strawberries in June, fresh sweet corn in July through September, and U-pick or picked pumpkins. Pick up some delicious spiced doughnuts while you’re there. They also have fun activities like the cider mill, petting farm, wagon rides, and pick your own pumpkins. Check out their five acre corn maze on the weekends from 9am – 6pm.

Markillie's is open from September 7th through Halloween. Their hours are weekends only from 11am-6 pm. Choices of apples are: William’s Pride, Zesta, Macintosh, Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Honey Crisp. Some activities offered include the pumpkin patch, cider mill, hay rides, and much more.
