Mainstream teen USA and gangsta rapper Lil’ Wayne expects to be put behind bars after he pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession.
Lil’ Wayne (born Dwayne Carter) who had previously pleaded not guilty to his attempted weapon possession accusation, decided to plead guilty last Thursday. If he had been convicted after pleading not guilty, many people’s favorite rapper would have been lost behind bars for three and a half years.
Police have said that the gun was found on Wayne’s tour bus in Manhattan on July 22, 2007. Lil’ Wayne respectfully told the Judge that the loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic gun found on the tour bus was in fact his. The self proclaimed “rap monster” is on bail for the time being. His sentencing is set for February. Young Money has been quoted as saying he believes he’ll be behind bars for about a year.
However, the plea came with a bit of questioning because after the gun went under DNA testing, the results came back with a minuscule amount of Wayne’s DNA on it. Even with these facts in mind the judge told Mr. Carter that he would not be able to withdraw his guilty plea. The judge was referring to other individuals who have attempted to withdraw guilty pleas after receiving new information. Wayne’s response was “I’m not one of those people”.
As Mr. Carter waits for his February sentencing to approach, fans are also preparing themselves to go some time without Lil’ Wayne. One thing that is probable is that Lil’ Wayne won’t be making “A Milli” this year.
